Social prescribing is an innovative approach to healthcare that highlights the significance of social, emotional, and practical support in improving people's health and wellbeing. Cast A Thought has proudly been accepted as a National Association For Social Prescribing, Social Prescribing Champions. This exciting initiative aims to increase awareness, foster collaboration, and provide support for social prescribing across the country.

The Role of Social Prescribing Champions
Through networking, learning and collaboration with a wide range of professionals, such as healthcare workers and other voluntary organisations, we will strive to improve health through the promotion of social connections and resources. This outreach is crucial, as studies suggest that up to 60% of people could benefit from these services but are unaware of the available options.
Additionally, we will support the initiatives of the National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP). This involves sharing inspiring success stories and effective practices to encourage others and showcase the positive effects of social prescribing efforts in local communities.
Helen Elstone, Community Development Lead for Cast A Thought states 'becoming a Social Prescribing Champion involves embracing the core values that underpin Cast A Thought. These principles emphasise inclusivity, equity, and enhancing holistic health and wellbeing in communities. We are very excited about what this opportunity to will bring to the organisation, but more importantly the people we work with.'
The organisation will be recognising this achievement and the role that social prescribing plays on 19th March 2025 at Mousehole Lakes, Nettlestead as part of the NASP Social Prescribing Day.
